Hi all,

Increasingly I am seeing 300 watt grid tie inverters (GTI) on ebay but have now come across a UK seller claiming to have one that is G83 compliant 'All units tested and certified for G83/1 in the UK'  The company in question has stuck a label over a cheap chines GTI and my suspicions seem confirmed when a delivery time of up to two weeks is mentioned in the listing.  I have emailed the seller and told that they do not need to supply a certificate with the unit.  When I asked who they are to test the GTI I got a snotty reply telling me they are 'Someone who has the necessary equipment to test for the G83/1 Parameters.'  and then told 'On from there you have wasted my time enough.  Please go and find an alternative supplier.' (not that I had any intention of buying but what a rude tw$t I thought).

My question is who can test for G83, is it to an ISO standard?  Can it be carried out by someone who has a scope and knows harmonics?  The increase of these potentially dangerous GTI needs some clarification I feel.  Any one else with stories about these little inverters?

Many thanks

Jonathan
