Boy do they make it hard work.

Some of the questions need reading a few time plus the advice notes & even then you are still unsure of what they want.

I am now up to as far as doing the diagram.
(I managed to get the serial number thanks to the OH & some make up remover)

Does any one have an example of whats needed or can recommend a free prog to make one?

Any other tips about the form filling for off griders?

How did you fill the forms about the genny?

Justme,

I supplied the single line diagram my supplier gave me, but I understand from an old post (Ivan's?) that they will accept hand drawn and scanned SLD's as long as it shows the system right up to the total gen meter and the consumer box.  It can be very basic as far as I understand.

Hello Justme

I find windows paint as good as any.
Only took about ten mins to do this.
Me, no intention of giving up the full time job
to become an artist.

Justme,

Thanks for the info on the other thread....my meter says "Z03FG25765" below the barcode. That must be the serial number yes?

Ivan suggested that we send details to Ofgem in a registered letter - any thoughts?

Sounds like the serial number.

Details about what?

Details of the system that you want to convert to FITs. However I'm applying online to Ofgem...then hit the brick wall about the diagram!

I think my diagram is sufficient. They only need a block diagram of the equipment and the order of connection - an electrical engineer will easily understand it. Knocked it together with Paint.

cheers
Paul

I will be doing my diagram tomorrow & then sending off the form on line but will also print out a copy & send recorded. That way they cant say they have not had it one way or the other.

I am more worried that I have answered one of their badly worded questions wrongly.

I have sent mine online.....its waiting for approval.

This is the email I quickly received from renewable@Ofgem.gov.uk:

This email confirms that on 09/03/2010 you signed the  declaration(s) on behalf of

Paul Hadley

via the R&CHP Register. The signed declarations are for the generating station(s)

XXXXXXX - New

For new applications the date above confirms when the aplication was submitted.

Yippee  Grin Grin .....but it makes sense to print it all out and send recorded delivery.....unless it get approved by Ofgem??

cheers

This is what I have so far

Do I need lockable isolators as I dont have grid power.
(normal houses dont have lockable isolators when they have one power source)

I can shut down each of the three arrays & can shut down the MPPT charge controller & shut down the inverter via the pc link that disables the front switch so I guess thats locked ish.

Is there a better word for the combiner? Basically its the central point that the charge source meets the inverter & battery cables IE a Buzz bar but I thought that combiner sounded better.

I assume that I dont need to show the shunts on the charge cables & battery cables?

Stick the model numbers on the invertEr (note spelling) etc - looks better. Plus you need the serial number on the meter. Lockable isolator is a G83 requirement - which you don't need to comply with if off grid.

Combiner is confusing - I would assume this was some clever box of electronics - whats wrong with 'junction box' or 'henley block'?

Thanks for that.

Or I could just put the battery in line as well.

Well the forms filled in & all set off via the on line system & I have the conformation email (that I have saved).

Just need to sit & wait now. Oh & find an energy supplier that is prepared to take me on knowing that they will never get any money or power out of me & just have to pay me.

Will they be allowed to charge a fee for doing so?

Ah thanks for that.

I did wonder when I saw the home page with its things to do format.

As the form is in I would say that even if it takes longer to get it sorted its still pre April 2010.

Ok, I'm gonna bite... Failed at the first step - DOH!

On the OFGEM E-Serve thingy... What type of account should I apply for? Generator, Agent, Supplier, Participant.

Looks like Participant as the next screen has check boxes for the types of things you can register for ROC, REGO, CCL, CCL CHP
