Thanks. I would not touch AC anyway. I am OK around 12v Dc but that's about it. I'll have a chat with the sparky.

Quote " this can be connected up to your immersion heater. "

The thermostat Will burn out using 200 ish volts D.C.

If your lucky it will burn open circuit and stop the flow of heat into the tank.
If it is a pressurised water tank like a Megaflow the implications of failure become a lot worse.

It can be done in a safe way by using the fail safe thermostat to operate a
solid state relay.

Alan is quite right about the DC (its been a heavy day, so not quite on the ball this evening) and using a SSR would be the way to go. But do take into account the likely cost of the temp fix against your likely savings or not as the case may be.

Well done.

What tariff will you go on?  I think there's the option to go on a higher paying tariff under the new FIT scheme post April 1st but you'd have to repay the grant.  With large arrays it can be beneficial to pay back the grant and switch tariffs but you have to work out which pays out more in your case.

Kombi
you have
orientation=257º
does this mean you are nearer west (270º) than south (180º)? Is so how much loss will you suffer with this non perfect orientation?

Kombi and I are in that magical period where we get both the grant and the full new FIT.  Fully legit and kosher.

Sweet.  I'm waiting to see if by swapping out some panels after 1st April, I've actually knackered my application for off-grid generating credits.  OFGEM had a query on my application and while fixing that gaffe I fessed up that I'd changed some panels after the deadline date.  They replied today that they're looking into it...

Sean,
you are right. I am very near West, but the shallow slope partly makes up for it. PVGIS predicts a 13% loss over a due South installation with the same slope.

Outtasight,
John is right. I get both.  extrahappy
