I am looking at getting some Perlight Solar 290w panels installed but they are not MCS certified yet.
All the other Perlight panels upto 240w are certified but their newest ones are not.

I have a couple of questions.

1. Can i grid connect these non-certified panels ?
2. Will i be able to collect my FITs with these panels ?
3. If i fit the panels and then they get their certificate will it affect the above answers ?

OR
Will i have to either find another certified 290w panel or wait until they are certified.

Many thanks for your help with this.

Hi,

1 - Yes you can grid connect these panels as long as the inverter you feed them through is G83 compliant and you adhere to the connection/ isolation requirements of your DNO

2 - No you won't be able to claim fits with these panels as they are not yet accredited under MCS,

3 - I doubt it as previous experience has shown that retrospective applications don't always fare well.

Also (and I believe this is still correct, list advise if not) even if all your equipment is MCS accredited you also need to have an MCS accredited installer otherwise the system is outside of the requirements.

Hope that helps

However....
If you install it before 1st April 2010 (yes, no joke) the system does not have to be MCS compliant.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Looks like i will have to find some alternative 290w pannels or wait for them to be certified.

Too late to get them installed in 5 days - pity.

Reading a thread elsewhere suggests as long as the panels are on the roof the inverter can follow and they would be considered to be fitted before 1st April.

Moxi

That was for a grant.

That said with the number of applications for ROC to FIT's just now I cant see anyone coming round just yet to check.

Apply, get them fitted asap.

I see the Yingli YL280P-23b is certified but i cant find a retailer, let alone a price for 8 panels.

Any one know whether Navitron or anyone else stocks them ?

Thanks
