Looks like the property may be old enough to be solid wall construction rather than cavity. This would at least make the structural aspect safer...

I have driven past this windsave and yet to see the blades rotate so today I stoped and spoke to the not so proud owners. it was installed on the 12th December 2006, the photo's taken today the 20th Feb 2007. look how much power it has produced. anyone care to quess the payback period? and the breaks on while they wait for the software upgrade. they think that they have saved £2.66p.

just found out the file(could,nt load the photo's) is too large better go back to Martin.

thanks Martin,
so how long before it pays for its self?

just to clarify - to stop the server being swamped, there's a "limiter" on posted photos - you can add  up to 4 pics to each post  to a total maximum of 192kb, no picture being larger than 128k or greater than 800 pixels wide or high! Roll Eyes
I'd recommend "Picasa", a freebie from Google - it'll catalogue all your photos, and optimise them for emails or posting on the board - really simply! (just highlight, and press "export" or "email" Wink

Tony

What an excellent illustration of where and how not to locate a wurbine. Surely it would be difficult to deliberately stage a better location?

As if the structural mouting of the top mast bracket within the top three or four courses of brick is not bad enough, the location is shielded and tubulence caused by the hedge, the bungalow roof, doubtless other properties/trees behing the camera and - should it not be obvious enough - that great wall of trees in the background  Shocked

Do the so-called 'surveyors' selling these things have no shame or conscience?  This does the industry no good whatsoever. Eventually, when the "software upgrade" fails to create any additional wind, the owners will doubtless resort (justifiably) to complaint stories the press/media and before long all wind turbines are tarred with the same brush (if they are not already).

Ant,

behind the camera the leyland hedge is taller, there is a house to left with trees in the garden, and to the right several house's with large willows. these people bought the windsave because they were told that it would save them money. they are left sorely dissapointed and were more than happy to tell me so.

two weeks B&Q were moaning in H&V news that they were'nt getting their fair market share of the solar thermal market, well maybe they get more than they rightly deserve.

a little thought just struck me........if you know that they couldn't do anywhere near what it says on the tin, there's one way of stopping
the figures being recorded - tell them to switch it off pending an upgrade of software! Undecided
Which might be enough time to schmooze their buddies in government for another bucketful of taxpayers money "because it only needs a little more work"............but noone would be that devious, would they? angel

I have just returned from Ireland drove past the windsave, only to see the blades turning. I will try and ask the owners this week if they have had the update carried out.
