OK, the funs over, and who do we blame for this act of nature?

Wiilie Walsh wants you, via Whitehall and Brussels, to subsidise his 'losses'
during the no-fly period.

I am surprised that he hasn't accused the trade unions of being responsible for the volcano eruption...

Quite. Those who now control all the captial have managed to off load the liability of their running costs onto the taxpayer tumble

In days gone past such an approach normally ended up with the Willy's dangling from the end of a rope or headless.

Unfortunately  boat and rail didn't rise to the occasion and establish some more permanent business for  themselves.     In Dublin  you can find an airport bus but not a ferry bus.   French railways on strike, although channel tunnel open if you could get there.

It does seem that the  aviation authorities acted too quickly and didn't evaluate the situation properly.      There was no need to  stop transatlantic flights from Ireland  if they didn't go too far north  but perhaps  they have a fixed route.    Also flights south to Portugal and Spain  shouldn't have been affected.    There  probably is a case for compensation if someone  made a completely wrong decision.    Some airlines, already on the edge,  may not survive this.
