I am building space next to stove for  cylinder and wondering when i get solar pump/expansion  and stuff can i put them any where on the solar loop ie above dhw cylinder but  below solar tubes.
this would really ease up space restrictions.
i presume i would  need some sort or a drain down tap at lowest point next to the cylinder on the solar loop but could the rest be upstairs. this is a single story cottage with converted loft.

thanks Smiley

Indeed, I am no professional installer but the solar circuit is closed so it would not make any difference where the pump/ev goes in terms of height.

But you must make sure that you follow the installation rules about position of equipment in the circuit.  Ie -  you don't want a non-return valve negating the ev or the pump on the hot side.

Remember when the panel stagnates the pipes will get very very hot and not to place kit to close to the panel in terms of pipe distance.

Lots of threads on all this if you search but it does take time.

Have a look at the Wiki page, http://www.navitron.org.uk/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.Stagnation
Most questions will be answered there. One of the factors you want to watch out for is that the pump station shouldn't be in the "steam zone" during power failure / stagnation. The properly sited NRV should stop any hot water being pressed back towards the pump anyway, but once it's all steam ...
Also, I'd recommend you make a detailed drawing with all the ups and downs, NRV and venting points. And then run through filling, venting, and draining the system on paper before putting it all together.

Ok thanks
I haven't ordered the parts yet just about to put the cylinder in and didnt whant to scupper myself space wise.
looks like can put  the bits and bobs away from the cylinder but keep it away from the toobs. thanks.

the wiki is handy.

great idea putting it on  paper will do a full diogram b4 i order the bits and bobs and submit to the forum for opinions.

thanks for your thoughts. Grin
