Sorry to be a pain but I can't find a web reference or link to a set of simple drawings showing me what I have to do in order to comply with the regs relating to parking and turning. My LA has indicated that I will need to provide new off road parking  and turning  for the garage / workshop  that I hope to build. Can any one point me in the right direction. genuflect..................... that is if you can translate the above into sensible english.. The government planning portal seems to have most things but not that bit or I cant find it...

The best way to deal with this type of carp is to bat it straight back at em and dutifully ask them to 'show me'

Show me what YOU want, that way you only have to do it once, do it right and they cant complain.

Theres always more than one way to **** the system

when i built my drive fife council insisted that i leave and enter the drive way in a forward gear, so basically big enough to do a 3 point turn.

400 yards down the road, new drive no room for a 3 point turn, planning application passed.

arse=fife concil

There was a Guy near Malmsbury that had this problem and no where to turn so at £12000 he fitted a turntable.

I have never seen it used as he has 2 cars side by side but it enabled him to have the curb lowered to allow cars to enter his frontage.

Check your loal councils Planning web site they should have a "design guide for what is acceptable for off street parking - ask them!
for one car space 2.4m x 4.8m   need min 6m x 6m infront of the space with 2.4 x 4.8 at 90 deg to turn into!!

Go to a large quiet car park with some mates, traffic cones, marker tape &  a large tape measure.

Work out how small an area you can do a turn in (does not have to be a 3 point turn as there is no such thing in the highway code) in your car.

Once you have worked it out take pics to prove it.

I would ask them what the legislation is that they refer to, and if the state "The Highway Code" advise them that it is "a code of practice" and in itself is not legislation.  Whilst articles in it are part of a legal requirement (ie covered by statute) the vast majority of the content is not and is merely recommendation.

not entirely related, but Gwent Police have announced in our local paper that they're clamping down on illegal parking - specifically parking for more than 1hour in a time-limited parking zone and/or parking in restricted areas with a £30 fine and three penalty points.

I thought a change of government would stop this sort of nonsense. By all means increase the fine, but three points on your licence for parking offence?!
