Hi All

As a new member I am finding that a little bit of knowledge just leads to loads of questions which I hope will bounce back with some answers.  Most of the questions have come from reading the postings on this forum which has been a revelation - thanks.

It seems that the best positions for turbines are in exposed elevated positions.  What safe guards can be taken to protect the turbine from a lightening strike?  Can it survive?  Any detail would be appreciated

Can they be insured against lightening and weather damage and has anyone done this?

Regards

My mast (galvanised steel) is grounded specifically to protect from lightning and the armouring on the SWA cable is only earthed at the turbine end - not at the house - for the same reason.

No extra insurance though.
