Most of you know this but you can mix sawdust an shavings with glycerol, a biodiesel waste product to burn in a regular solid fuel stove.
Very good heat output.

If anyone would like to try this, I can let you have some for free. Close to Luton, Beds.

I agree, having tried this - twice the energy of an equivalent quantity of wood, and it adds about 100C to the woodstove surface temperature. Watch you don't put too much on, otherwise you'll overheat your stove. The only thing I've seen hotter than that was when I burnt about a kg of of my failed methanol+solid veg oil experiment, mixed with some sawdust. The flue pipe was glowing orange. Oops.

Im in North Mk Andy, I'll give them a go if we can arrange a meetup sometime.
In the meantime Ive made a small sawdust stove out of a car exhaust box. Took 10 minutes will post up on another thread the pics. As long as its not complicated to post pics that is!

not exactly what the OP had in mind but thought someone might be interested...

my gas cylinder forge, been running it today for the first time just using a propane torch but i'm putting together a proper propane burner
