Controlled demolition? About right i reckon....  Wink

But look - that 'short' gin pole looks pretty long when saucily modelled by Le Spek.....

Slight oversight..... i hadnt noticed the steel base is wider than it is tall. Hence the nice ends of me pole all mashed up on it and got a bit squished.
Bugg3r.

Proper jammed on it was - precision equipment called for then.

You might be able to spot in this pic the strange sharp bends in the rope where the middle is all bollixed.
Pff! I'm goin to Lidl for all me rope in future!

So - whats next then Speccybloke? Praps we could shimmy up onto the roof to fit that replacement tube that the chimney-ape bro......
Spek..?

Where the arsing heck has he got to...!?

OI! Them's for human beans only!

Blimmin holograms....

Heh! Normally you would be completely right my Germano/Oirish chum.... But during this entire episode i handed over control of visuals to 'persons unseen'. I am actually in one or two of 'em if you look. My role was mostly driving and shouting useful things like - 'hold that' 'pull this' etc....
Y' see, when a Speccybloke is around you have to keep them fully occupied at all times or else the incredibly irritating 'brain saver' kicks in......

I dont want to tell you which part of him you have to nudge to rouse him.......!   Lips Sealed

is the turbine still down ?

if it is you should replace the bolt through the bottom pole mounting thing with a bit of studing.... which sticks out at both ends..... giving you the perfect place to attach your gin pile when you're putting it back up.... and gain if you ever need to take it down again !

Pff! Thats exactly what Speccybloke said...... You all ganging up on me or summat!?  Wink

Yep turnip still down and will remain that way for a bit. Mostly cos i have (insanely..) decided to have a go and build me own gert Arms O Death. Fed up with expensive exploding plastic jobbies....

Close up of the hub - lookit how nice and flat the bolt heads sit on those..... wait a minute..

So i been and bought some of this. £8 - bargain!

Got me some plans from t'internet and an old placcy blade for inspiration.......

Going to start off simple - drill some holes, yeah!

There ye go - nearly finished!
Er,

Just noticed something a bit worrying while watching Shaun the Sheep yesterday.....

I shall be in touch with my legal team first thing Monday morning.........

Um - you dont want to make the blades from heartwood - or anything too knotty. Use them as a practice - but you want some hardwood, with no knots.

I would be tempted to use marine ply - the 'somerset panel centre' in taunton does it at a very good price - they also deliver. Glue several layers together to get the required thickness.

Hope your eyesight is better than the farmer's Wink

this might sound daft.... and it;s no good for you if you want to use the hub you have....

but are 3 blades that much better than 4 ?

if there's not that much in it..... then 4 blades would be much, much stronger.... because you could make.use 2 extra long double ended ones, which overlap in the middle ?

I'd even guess.... that if you lose say 20% by using 4 blades instead of 3.... that you could gain that back by making the 4 blade (2 long ones) even longer... and they'd still be stronger than 3 ?

I'm going with 3 as i can roughly copy the size and shape of existing ones and be reasonably sure of ballpark expected output etc. Also have a good 3-blade hub.

I know i should use way more awesome timber but, see, i am one of them cussed bastids who just wont be told. In a way i am looking forward to seeing how they work (and for how long..!) Cant really afford proper wood at the moment and if i make them from comedy timber it can only help my viewing figures!   sh*tfan

Just as an aside - the Blunt Tools radio posse is making an appearance on Phonic FM again on Sunday at 8pm. We are not hosting the show this time but all crowding into the studio for noisy Chrimble shenannigins and quiz etc. with Tom (DJ Badgerstyle...  Roll Eyes ) my lodger.

Linky - http://www.phonic.fm/

Just click on "listen".

We would really like it if anyone fancied emailing in during the show to studio@phonic.fm
as normally, to be honest, almost nobody does!

I am hoping to run the quiz so comedy answers to questions welcome... NO GOOGLING! Ahem, Richard Owen......    Wink

It will, i am sure, be entirely underwhelming.   Grin

Good though!!
