Well more specifically USB 3 pin wall warts.

 Better or worse than regular phone chargers et al? overall their multimodal capacity surely would make them a better piece more utilitarian of kit?? ..or is that pie in the sky?
 One good thing to come out of one of ours is the bright blue led on it, reminds me at night to charge in the night (eg phone) for next days use, allowing a low level but effective floor based nightlight to light the landing in case daughter has to rush to the loo without stumbling.

For max efficiency just charge whenever pc is on. You might check other devices to see if they have a usb you can use. Many modems, routers, set top boxes, TVs etc have one that can be used.
