When would a FiT officially start??

Hi

I've had a look through some posts and couldn't find anything so apologies if I'm covering old ground here.....

I posted my registration docs off back in Feb and they got returned by Royal Mail so I tried again last week this time recorded delivery. So in effect SEE wil be processing the docs some 2 months after installation as a result. 

So, would my FiT payment start from when the system was installed back in Feb (when the meter was reading 0) or would it start from when they process the paperwork (now the reading is over 500)?  If it is the latter how would they know what the reading is now as on my form it says on the date of installation it was 0) 

Has anyone experienced what SSE do in this circumstance?

My forms went into SSE some time after the install and they accepted the meter reading of zero at time of install as stated on the paperwork supplied by my installer. So I don't think it should be a problem for you.

We had our system switches on at the end of August 2010 and there was a 3 week delay in getting the installation certificate due to holidays etc. so we eventually posed it on about 20-9-10 to Eon. they could only use a start reading from 5 days before they received the paperwork. I had daily logs so over the phone confirmed the reading of ### on 20-9-10 not the Zero i had put on the form.

They appologised and said it was a quirk of the legislation on the figure they have to use as zero would be the logical reading as a new generation meter would always show zero !!! But i get 3 weeks more generation in 25 years time and still ran my meter backwards for 3 weeks in august so i cant really complain.

Eon were new and i spoke to them quite a lot as it still took us ages to finish the registration as our Scout hall didnt have a post code, even though it was built in 1835 ish and the oldest building in the road !!! We got a post code issued _ same as our neighbours each side and opposite and we were registered.

I think that technically a post code covers all the properties on a "walk" (or some such Post Office term) and ties in to how mail is sorted at the last stage in the local delivery office & put into the postie's mail bag? In less rural areas there was often one code for one side of a street and another code for the other side. At least I understand that's how it used to be. Maybe things have changed...

I'm at the start of the process for installing solar PV and new to the forum, so have read many of the posts on the forum.

There are clearly different stages in the registration process. What point/date actually determines what the FiT tariff will be? As I understand it there are key milestones in the process, but I am not sure what actually kicks in when:

There is the date of installation of the system.
The date of MCS registration of the system by the installer.
The application date to the electricity provider (backdated to the meter reading five days before).
The date at which the electricity provider registers the system with OFGEM.

Having read some of the posts on delays in the last aspect (I am with EDF), would I risk being on a lower FiT if the electricity provider delayed OFGEM registration until after 1st April 2012, if the rates were to be reduced? Assuming that I get the system installed before end of March. If everything falls into place, I should be up and running by October.

The only date that really matters is the Eligibility Date, which is when your 25 year term starts.

The Eligibility Date for a newly installed MCS system can now only be the later of:

1) date of receipt by a supplier of a written request for registration
2) date of Commissioning of the system

If you write to your chosen supplier, saying you wish to enter into a FiTs contract, as soon as you know that the installation will go ahead you will cover yourself and thereby allow the Eligibility Date to be the Commissioning Date.

Things went swiftly here,
Install completed 08th July,
ScottishPower wanted their application form for 'Clean Energy Cashback' scheme completed by the 15th July for them to accept the generation meter to be starting at '00000', application duly completed and returned to them by recorded delivery,
Letter of acceptance received from them dated 22nd July requesting a signed acceptance from me to be signed and returned by the 29th.
Letter of acceptance showed date of 'acceptance' as the 11th July, the date they received the recorded delivery acceptance.
