My problem is that I have 2 rain water fed toilets one...standard ball valve and the other a fluidmaster bottom fed, it was a pain to get this to work with low pressure, but even the smallest piece of anything and it does not seal and overflows (into the bowl) and OK I have no filters in-line BUT, the other toilet is OK ....do I swap it out for something else OR find filters to stop this every happening...any thoughts welcome.

Hi Adrian,

You can get ultra low pressure diaphragms for the fluidmaster valves, have you got a standard one in?

I have a low pressure seal, the issue is that even the smallest piece of anything holds the seal off it's seat ... a change of bottom fed valve is called for!

Hi Adrian,

Do you have an update?  I need to replace my toilet (and use rainwater) and I am not sure what flush and valve to buy.

Fit a good pre filter that is easily cleaned & use what ever valve you want.

Hi
I have used one of these for 2 years with no problem. I just have 2' gravity head.

Thanks Iain.  The only review on Screwfix is very critical. Is there any truth in this?

Hi Fred
I have 2 fitted in the same cicstern, one on mains pressure (my mains is set at 3 bar) with the restrictor fitted and one on the rainwater with about 2' of head gravity fed(no restrictor).

Have had no problems so far. I took off the floppy plastic filling tubes when I fitted them.
The rainwater one made a little "groan" as it closed for a while but is totally silent now

That's very neat Iain, I'll go with that set up, but do you now have an overflow?  I can see a hole in the back, but is anything connected?

Hi Fred
I lowered the syphon so that it became the internal overflow. Apparantly it is ok to have an internal overflow now. I just cut a horizontal section out of the top of the syphon and glued the top back on! So that the overflow level is now about 20mm above the water level but below the valve inlets. I think you can use the flap type valve as well as it has an internal overflow.
I think I needed something like a 6 1/2" syphon. I couldn't find one  so just modified one to try and it is still working
