Brand new unused vented hot water cylinder with 3 heating coils, 15mm solar coil plus 2 x 22mm boiler coils. The cylinder is 1800mm x 400mm plus 50mm polyurethane insulation with a 210litre capacity.

See here for details http://www.navitron.org.uk/product_detail.php?proID=106&catID=88 , and as you can see is almost £730 (although the details at the checkout says 101kg but it only weighs about 31kg when empty).

I bought this when I fitted solar hot water panels to my house but changed my plans to a thermal store so never used this cylinder.

It has been sitting up my loft for about 2 years and now need to sell it to make way for a loft conversion. It is still in perfect condition and has never had water in it.

I would be looking for £500, I live in Aberdeen and could deliver it if required (within a reasonable distance), or collection from the Cove area.

Thanks for looking.

Still for sale. I think this can be delivered by courier for about £50, I can get a proper quote if anyone is interested.

Was sort of interested in buying it "for stock" for a new build until I thought a bit: your price is a sensible one for somebody expecting to pay full VAT on a new one but not so attractive if a VAT reclaim would be possible. There's nearly as much effect for a 5% VAT MCS installation. This might be why you haven't had much response.

Good point. But even without vat it would still be about £580.

I am open to sensible offers though Grin and I understand that there is no point in having renewable energy if its not cost effective and will never pay for itself. Keeping costs low is usually a priority in these kinds of systems.

If any one is interested make me a reasonable offer.

I still have this for sale, available again due to a time waster who failed to send the promised cheque or get back in touch. (No one on here).

Will sell for £450, courier quotes I have acquired range from £50 to south of Scotland from Aberdeen, or £90 to east Wales plus a few other quotes which are relative to these in distance.

Can I ask a stupid question...

...how does this differ to a "thermal store"?

Thanks
Dan

p.s. I ask because I am in the process of sorting out a plan for a solar thermal install and I'm wondering if this is the sort of tank I need.

Hi Dan,

A thermal store stores heated water and that water is static, i.e. that water does not leave the store. Heat is transferred to mains pressure water via the internal heat exchanger so the stored heated water and the DHW never touch. This is what I currently use with my combi boiler.

The cylinder I'm selling is for use on a vented system with a header tank. The solar panels and other boilers (3 coils in this cylinder) heat the water directly for use which is kept in the cylinder until a tap is opened.

If your planned system is vented and with a header tank this is what you need  Grin

Thanks Greg,

I knew it was a stupid question - I was kind of thinking that an external plate heat exchanger would allow this to be used for DHW but I guess that's just more complication and opens up issues of potential loss of stratification too.

I have also done a lot more reading recently and a few rough calcs related to the panels (and stove) I want to use and the amount of heat I ultimately need over a period of time and I need a much bigger tank! Smiley

Thanks again for replying, much appreciated.

Best of luck with the sale....

Dan
