Things must have changed - when I registered in July 2010 my meter reading was of course zero - when I gave my first reading after the first qtr. it was x and that is what I got paid against - I do not recall them asking for any other details.

They can only register you at a maximum of 5 days before they receive your FIT application.  In these circumstances they are happy to accept zero as your initial reading.

However in my case by the time they got my FIT application it was 22/8/11, so they needed a reading from 17/8/11 as the FIT application showed my system as having been commissioned on 8/7/11.

Surprised the name of the company has been deleted, not much use not knowing which company people are talking about.

Kaf - I might be way off the mark here, but my odd logic suggests that you haven't lost those weeks, they've just been added to the other end of the 25 years, so stay in good health, and just be patient.

Am I right, anyone?

You are assuming

A - I live that long

B - I have not moved home.

Would you give someone £200 now if they promised to find you in 25 years time and pay it back?

Kaf, no offence meant, I'd be just as annoyed as you, was just trying to cheer you up by putting a silver lining on it for you.

Also, it won't be £200 in 25 years, probably double or triple, depending on FITs rates and leccy bill. Of course in real terms, probably about £200.

My installation was 7 weeks ago, and apart from an email from EDF confirming they are waiting for OFGEM, nothing yet. So if there is any problem accepting my original meter reading then I may be in a similar boat.

Still, you've got to smile haven't you.  fingers crossed!

As long as they had your FIT application within 5 days you are fine.

How long it takes them to get their finger out is not your problem.   Grin

They had told me they would send the completed FIT application off by recorded delivery to make sure it arrived as they had experience of E.on losing some.
....
So my personal advice is, by all means use them to install, but only trust yourself with the FIT application.........it is your money !!
Recorded Delivery gives you diddly squat. There's no guarantee it will actually be delivered, and in my experience about 30% of the time the Royal Mail tracker just keeps saying the letter is "in the system" even after it has arrived, and you don't ever get proof of delivery.

I filled in my own FIT application and sent it Special Delivery. OK, so it cost 5 quid, but at least you have a guarantee it will arrive on time and can rely on getting proof of delivery.

Incidentally, E.ON received my application on 5th Sept and sent my FIT contract back on 27th. I am impressed with their efficiency. Of course it remains to be seen how quick they will actually pay up!

A wise decision and one I wholeheartedly support.
