I'm hunting a Low Voltage (12~24V)  PIR LED Light for indoor use, as a mechanism for late night movements in the house, as an alternative to domestic lighting. ( nice to have on the landing for instance)

Officially "Awesome" because Frotter said so!

Gus - did you measure (or ask the supplier) what the standby consumption of the PIRs on those lamps is? I've seen PIRs with very high standby consumption so now always check this. It can dwarf the actual light usage consumption for occaisionally-used lights. If not, care to find out?

Ahh, erm,  facepalm ...no! ..totally forgot about that as I recall.

Let's try that again shall we!? ...

will amend this post later! (we hope)

Try using a PIR sensor from a home alarm system. They are 12V, and have a trigger output that you can use to fire an LED light. However, I guess the consumption of ANY PIR would be equivalent to 2W or more. I have a 3W CFL in our landing light. Sounds dim, but it provides more than adequate lighting, and is left on all night (I prefer no light at night but unfortunately children disagree).
