Sometimes people get in a dreadful pickle when posting images - hopefully the following will help....... Go to http://postimage.org/ and "register" - (using your email address, choose a username and password) - as soon as you've done so, click on "upload" and a new window will open - alongside "choose image file" click on "browse" and find the image you want to upload - then choose "800x600" in the dropbox marked "do not resize" - click on the plus sign alongside "gallery" and choose a name for your album "solar", "fred's" or whatever, click on "family safe", then hit the "upload" button - then when the progress bar has shown it's uploaded you'll be presented with several options - click on "Hotlink for forums 1", and it'll copy the necessary code to the clipboard then just come to the forum editing window that you're writing your post in, right click and "paste" - it'll give you a couple of lines of code where the image will appear, then post as usual - image hostSounds more complicated than it is - after a couple of goes it's a doddle - you can upload all sorts of images and it'll do all the cutting down in size necessary for you - it also eases the load on the forum's servers....

For Windoze users I also recommend "Picasa" - it's a really good free and simple to use imaging programme from Google - it'll catalogue all your pictures, and it's a simple "one click" job to optimise them for all sorts of uses......... (just Google "Picasa", and follow your nose!)

I've now managed to add "postimage" as an "add on" - just click on the "add image to post" text link just below the smileys, and "follow your nose"

Try using the simple way (the post above yours) - it takes all the hard work out of it!

For choice of position within the text you'll have to use the lengthier method as suggested at the beginning of the thread.........

Hi Martin,
postimage doesn't seem to be working today. Not sure if it's a temporary thing, but I've tried 3 different browsers and can't get to it by clicking your "Add image" link or by typing the url directly.
Do you have a cunning plan?
Thanks

It looks like there's a glitch with Postimage, and unfortunately don't know if it's temporary or not. There are 2 other ways to include an image in a post - click on "additional options" and "attach" a file (up to 128kb), or use the "insert image tags" - up above the smileys there's a "picture" icon - click on that and it'll insert "img][img" - bung the url of the picture between the two ][, and it'll display (it has to be on the internet somewhere so it has a url for that method
