Sorry, very random post.  Does anyone insure a minibus for personal use (<9 seats)?  I'm looking at buying another one on ebay and the two insurers I've just spoken to (Tescos and Post Office) both took twenty minutes to tell me they don't insure LDV minibusses.   bike   I drove one until this time last year and I don't remember having any problems.  Can anyone suggest insurers who are a bit more clued up?       fume

Otherwise my green plan of having a smart car for 95% of journeys and a minibus for the other 5% (which a normal car would have been too small for anyway) is going to fall by the wayside.

Have you tried Adrian Flux?  They cover some more unusual vehicles.

Try Autonetinsurance, they deal in vans and the like, make sure all the details are spot on though as the admin charge will be high just to change anything!!!!

NFU?

I used to run a minibus & some times had the brokers ask why I needed one.

With a good reason to have one I got the insurance. I guess they are worried you are going to Taxi it.

spot on justme,
the reaction you get depends on the type of info you supply and the way you answer questions,if you say that you willk only be using it for family outings and private use and perhaps will have under 8,000 miles per year you might get a bit better attention.
it is inportant to write down all your replies so that you will be able to supply the same info when you are looking for a quote elsewhere.there is nothing dishonest intended but it is important to give the same answers each time.when asked ,,have you ever been turned down for insurance, just tell the truth and explain that these two insurance co,s do not do minibus,s.it might be a better to refer to this vehicle in future as a "people carrier"
