I'm having loads of difficulty pushing some tubes home. I've tried fairy liquid on the glass and manifold rubber and this has helped however some tubes just refuse to push home; anyone got an ingenious method?

if you're referring to the tubes going into the silicon glands on an "all in one" tank/tube system, fairy liquid, and twist and waggle at the same time as pushing! Grin

I smeared silicone grease on the inside of the manifold rubber - works better than the soap. 

Make sure you've got plenty of thermal transfer goo on the heat exchanger bulb too.

I was presuming he was referring to the "no heat tubes" all-in-one system - all I've ever used on the conventional panels is the "chinese toothpaste" heat transfer stuff on the top of the heat tubes...

Hi

If it's the conventional navi 47/58mm tubes with heat pipes, I found it help I found it helped to pull the heat pipe out a few inches, smear it with the silicone grease, and push it into the manifold first before lubricating the glass or rubber cub and finally pushing the glass home.

Thanks guys. It's 58mm tubes going into the gasket seals of teh manifold. I'll get some silicone grease tomorrow and give it a try. The soap was working great for all but a few fume

 The manifold seals are silicon rubber & most spray furniture waxes are silicon based with organic waxes, but check the label first if you take this route....

As with hiccup, first eliminate whether it is the glass tube or the heat pipe that won't go in.

It is possible that a small burr on the manifold pocket is stopping the heat pipe sliding in. Look into the pocket and see. Also if there is a scratch or score on the heat pipe this might indicate a metal to metal issue.
If so, gentle dressing of the burr on the pocket edge with a half-round needle file will sort it.

I installed my first Navitron thermal installation a couple of weeks ago using the 47mm tubes.  Had the same problem for the first one or 2 tubes.  The copper bulb is never exactly in line with the glass tube.  Answer for me was to pull the copper bulb out about 6 inches (it will become obvious how out of alignment they can be), find the right angle to push it home in the manifold, then a bit of spit on the glass tube and push that home.  It was very quick once I found that 2 part technique.  Doing the first tube I originally though I was in for a nightmare.  Also, all my black end caps had been screwed in the wrong way around as delivered.

Finally managed to complete the install today extrahappy Pushing home the copper bulb first is a must for ease of installation, also, I took a fine piece of sand paper and "shined up" the bulb. The combination of the two allows the tubes to be pressed home in no time...Many thanks for all the tips above.

Yes, I put a smear of paste on on the bulb once it had been "shined-up".
