Hi all,
Hotpoint Equaltis, stuffed after 1 year 18 days. Disgusting. Research done after the event, seems like they have a track record. Going back to Costco genuflect
Any ideas on a potentially reliable, efficient replacement.

Thanks, stinky Andy

Well first of all. "goods fit for purpose" a warranty is not to be listened to, do some researchas to expectations & rights of goods to be of reasonable quality & therefore lifespan / service, you'll find this machine falls short of the mark.

don't accept out of warranty as an excuse for shoddy goods!

Hi & thanks for that.
Yes, I agree. It is going back to Costco, no quibble refund. Other suppliers you would need to fight on those grounds.
Going to see what Costco have in stock for reasons of good service & if nothing is suitable I will need to look further.

Andy.

I bought a new Samsung a few months ago, the 7 kg version rather than the 8kg one.  It seems to work well but too early yet to see how well it lasts.  It uses smaller amounts of water and detergent than the previous machine. The detergent drawer is completely clear after a wash. Dropping from 40C wash down to 30C only saves one minute of heating time so very little water is heated (2.5 kW heating element).

Hi Andy - here is a nice standard letter that you can adapt if you get no joy about getting your money back.

There was a thread about washing machines a few years back.  Lots of people, me included were pleased with LG machines.

I still am.

Hi & thanks for the info guys. With this & info from the biodiesel forum, I think Bosch, dyson or LG are likely candidates. Most likely supplier will be Costco
because of the excellent returns policy. Good document also many thanks from me & the 19 people that beat me to it  Smiley

Regards Andy
