Again thanks
We got told in work today that the 90 day thing is over and I will be given my notice of 90 days in Jan. Been there 22 yrs so a bit sad. But no worries. So now got to buy this place. We love it. You can dig peat and get wood from the wood (where else) and thats all legal. So all you guys and girls have to do is is help with the leccy and gas. It has 2 gennys but would like to go 100% green its not that we're tree huggers, its what we want to do. So start telling me which way to go
We will buy the place

I can not say it enough, INSULATE, INSULATE, INSULATE.

Put insulation inside on your exterior walls, yes you may loose 100mm all the way around your rooms, but you will notice the difference. Put 500mm plus thick in your roof spaces, go mad with it and you will reap the rewards of minimal energy use. Make sure your windows and doors are sealing properly, and obviously air lock your exterior doors.

As my architect friends say, keep the water out, and get it away.
