My (Navitron) EV tube system, now 3 yrs old, continues to work really well (the last few days have been excellent despite being mid October, despite a stagnation event yesterday, oops - one for another thread!).

Because of it's location the 10mm copper pipes run for a fair way outside exposed to the elements (about 2M). I covered the 10mm copper pipes in armaflex of course, but then wrapped that in silver gaffer-like tape largely to prevent damage from the sun. Problem is, that the tape keeps coming off as it dries and goes brittle. Does any one have other suggestions for a tape-based covering I could use?

Boxing the pipes in isn't really very practical because of their location.

I cant remember the name of the stuff;

But it is the GRP stuff they use on flat roofs that goes hard when it is exposed to UV.
Although it is possible that it is too permanent for your application.

It comes in sheets but is easily cut into strips and used as tape.
Peel of the backing sheet and wrap the armaflex.

I used the stuff over armaflexed pipes beneath my floors to protect the armaflex from rodents (although due to lack of UV beneath the floor it took about two weeks for the stuff to go off!!)

I've used Denso tape, horrible greasy sticky stuff Tongue wired on with a few turns of galv garden type wire, this has seen nearly 3 years now and managed to repel birds and them pesky squirrels.

Still seems ok at the moment.

Thanks for the helpful replies - I'll try the silicone tape I think.
