I would have thought thermal solar panels with reflectors  (ritter etc) would have been far more efficient than a large reflector.

I saw wind turbines in the background so I wonder why they did not include turbines within the arrays

Good to see someone is thinking clearly - t'would seem that Germany's bold decision to be rid of nuclear will help project them even further ahead of countries like the UK.

I wounder what the costs are and for how much they are able to produce a kwh

Also , if anyone could have known that PV will be as cheap as it is now and prices are still falling

Hey Paul    Grin  i have my own "Super-Grid" at home

Edit : Just searched the net  and found some info about costs  and as far as i am aware in Spain  the FIT rate for huge PV (freestanding ) is lower than for Concentrated thermal plants

The andasol 3 plant (which promted that Deserted youtube channel) says the cost per kWh is 0.27€/kWh. Which is conveniently almost exactly the same as the Spanish feed-in-tarrif for CSP. That's about twice the typcial power price in Spain, so it's quite expensive, but not crazy.

As tye've been running Andasols 1 and 2 for a while now, I assume they've got a reasonable amount of data and those figures are accurate. (All three plants are the same design, although they did change suppliers for some bits on 3 - I guess they got a better deal).
