Wanted outback mate, the screen on mine has got gradually worse, now I can,t read it.
Have looked at prices and £240 is too much, would prefer second hand.
Cheers,
Dave.

Hi Dave,

is not the 'Mate' just a glorified start module??? If so one of these would probably do http://www.deepseaplc.com/products/dse-genset/auto-start-controllers/dse3110/ last time I priced one it was well under 100GBP and you can get cheap Chinese clones for half that or less.

Deep Sea are definitely worth speaking to as this kind of stuff is their speciality and they're very good at it.

Good luck, Paul

Hi Paul, the mate lets you access the controls and settings on the VFX inverter, whilst it has got generator start functions I hope I don,t need em, since the solar went up the old batteries have never had it so good, it is the data I want, and the status of inverter.
I admit I have not actually changed owt since installing, but it is nice to know.

How old is it?

Even if out of warranty speak to Outback they should be able to fix it for a reasonable fee.

There is also a new version out so could be a good time to upgrade it any way. Personally the cost of a "mate" far exceeds its value as part of the system unless you have a very large install with multipul inverters & charge controllers.

Hi "Justme", I bought the inverter and mate secondhand, it was used on the same system as mine with similar charging sources, so not had to change owt.
The VFX inverter has many tricks up its sleeve but to access em you need the mate, but yes I agree more of a "want" than a "need".
Just thought I would try get a used one than cough up the extortionate price of a new un.

I have been looking for a cheap one for about 3 years lol.

Its time they made a direct PC interface for the inverters & charge controllers.
