110v site transformers - does it isolate?

I don't know if it's a sensible suggestion or not - but have you considered an old arc welder? Some have different inputs for different voltages and I know farmers who have used them as transformers. No idea about isolation on them, I'm afraid....but you can pick up big high output old arc welders for next to nothing.
