The credibility of a European energy review has been cast into doubt by experts who point out that long-term plans to cut carbon emissions are based on an economic model owned by a single Greek university that cannot be independently scrutinised.
--------------------------------------------------------
industry critics complain its assumptions are impossible to question because the model is privately owned.
--------------------------------------------------------
“The model remains the private property of the National Technical University of Athens. The consequence is that independent parties cannot replicate the results. This is a commercial matter for the Commission, but members of the Group pointed out that it does have obvious consequences for the credibility of the roadmap.”

Is this yet another example of EU legislation being based on a model that may be flawed.

That model wouldn't be built out of wood and shaped like a horse by any chance?

Hang on a minute - I accept that there has probably been some considerable dishonesty in many stratas of Greek society which has contributed to the pickle in which they now find themselves, but they have a society which seems to be very keen on good food, drink and their families  - I gather many city-dwellers are now returning to the family plots to start "self-sufficiency" - can't fault those priorities.... Just because they for the most part haven't "bought-in" to the empty dreams of consumerism that other EU countries have doesn't make them "lesser people" in any way at all - I'd personally sooner be part of a club with them in it than to have to swallow a great many of the lunacies of the US (which would be the alternative to "Europe")

i am beginning to believe that when we talk about the greeks we are talking about two different kinds, the greek people who are despairing of their goverment and the greek goverment which as someone on navitron recently explained is made up of two families who cling to power,(,der clingons again Roll Eyes)so really the struggle is between the greeks themselves.old georgious called a referendum, then he called it off and looked for a vote of confidence,,its just like italy with old berliscunki,,old silvia has no intrest in his country he just wants to cling to power that bit longer,,(another clingon). we here in ireland know all about bad goverments. we had a dreadfull time getting shot of cowan and company but cowan needed another 2 months to fufill his pension requirments,so he was forced to step down as his party,s leader but could continue as taoiseach (or prime minister). the whole senario was one of acute embarassment for the country.i dont think we ever had such a collection of dunderheads in goverment ,especially in a time of such need,,
we still have our rotten bankers who should be behind bars by right and frankly we are very unhappy about the way the country is being driven. so we understand how the greek people feel.i wish them the best of luck and hope they can resolve their difficulties without too much hardship.,,,,,,,,,,,, biff

The Greeks, hoc spit, its a family thing ever since they used to shoot at us when my brother and I were very small toddlers, we even had an armed guard just to go to the beach. So when ever we say Greek, hoc spit, we spit to one side.

However,  i am sure today there are some very nice Greeks, ..........I like Rogeriko's comments that the Government family's run everthing like gangsters.

To be honest behind bars is too good for them, why should the tax payer pay more.  They should be made work a full week hard work at basic wage and made pay back every penny/cent they stole in the first place.  That includes the politicians!   They shouldn't be paid for failure!!

The Greeks are experts at all of this they have just discovered over 300 BILLION cash deposits in Swiss banks held by Greeks. Of course the Greek government has given Switzerland 10 days before they must start naming the depositors. You should have seen the lear jets leaving Athens for Switzerland this morning, gotta get the cash to the Caymans!! Surprisingly there will be nothing to report in 10 days. This is just how it works here.
