Hi,
I could do with some advice,  I am trying to connect via blue tooth to a sunnyboy inverter with no luck.
I have tried with my laptop with windows 7 and my PC windows XP.
The sunny explorer will find the plant with net id 2 but will not connect to it. I also have a sunny beam, this connected OK out of the box. I have tried using the blue tooth that came with my laptop, no luck. I have just been to Maplins and bought a blue tooth dongle class1, that won’t have it either.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Mick.

What are you using to connect?

If you are using Sunny Data Control, that no longer works on Bluetooth either directly or via Sunny Beam.

You need to use Sunny Explorer to connect to your inverter.

I have the same problem .. Blue tooth laptop windows 7 .. but I'm waiting for my Sunny Beam to arrive as it was out of stock with the installers .. will get it sometime in January, My laptop can see the SMA inverter but wont connect.

I have a question about my generation/import reading but will look for the correct thread.

Many thanks and Happy Christmas  reindeer

Bluetooth sucks IMHO.  Very poor choice by SMA - should have used WLAN or just plain LAN.  Anyway, I am not sure about BT on W7 but Microsoft has historically done a poor job of supporting BT.  On my XP-SP3, when you plug in the BT dongle, up pops tray icon.  You are on a laptop so there is every chance that you have a BT driver called BleuSoleil - it distinguishes itself by a "Bluetooth places" icon on your desktop etc.  Either way, perform a discovery (as you seem to have performed successfully) and then you should be prompted for the device's PASSKEY.  The trick is that the SB does no use any, so select "None".  At that point, perform a Services discovery (COM ports, or whatever it may be called).  You should find two (1x in, 1x out).  If you don't find these, then forget about SunnyExplorer.  Once you see those services, launch SunnyExplorer and it should (eventually) hook up to your SB.  You should see the login/password prompt.

I have sent an email to SMA. It should not be this hard. My installer never checked the settings when it was switched on so at the moment it is set for the German grid. He is getting a pass code to change it but without being able to connect he cannot change it, I also need to use the multi-function relay so I have to get this working.
This looks like a common problem.

Its not really a common problem, I have not seen many instances.

I expect its your Bluetooth stack thats the issue, not all are supported by SMA, which is probably what they will reply with, if you check the documentation for Sunny Expolrer on the SMA website, it tells you which ones are supported.

Windows 7 bluetooth stack should work with no problem, if your using a dongle you may well be using another stack. The few instances I have seen here before have been solved by plugging in a different dongle / changing stack.

Hi,

The windows 7 blue tooth did not want to know,
The new dongle I purchased today is a blue soleil, according to the SMA website compatible. The blue tooth can see the inverter and exchange data, the problem is the software will not connect to the inverter after the Bluetooth has shaken hands,

A bad day I have just dropped my laptop and broken the screen. fume

I am not that sharp with a PC so I may be wrong. I have looked at the com port through the blue tooth program and you can see some data sent and the data received slowly rising. This was yesterday when my laptop was working. This morning the software managed to get me to the log in screen once but after entering the password the next button was greyed out, I think this was just a glitch.
I am off to buy another blue tooth dongle. All good fun.
I don’t want to think about the laptop, I will have to find a doc to see if I can save my documents. I should know , back it up !

How about plugging in an external monitor just to get the data off?

That usually happens if the username or password wasn't recognised by the inverter, if by next button you mean the inverter "folder list" on the left hand side of the Sunny Explorer.

By default, the thing suggests to log in as "User" and the default password is "0000".

I got logged on today .. many thanks for the advice .. I used the 0000 as the pasword .. I did try 1111 first but it didn't work  Grin ..
The BT is rubbish doesn't work at all in the kitchen fume and just about works in the hall downstairs .. not much better when upstairs directly under the inverters position in the loft.
