I have no sensor pockets on my cylinder and suggestion is that I simply attach the sensors to the outside of the tank. I'm fitting a retro fit coil system ( all ready except for the newly made retro coil which I'm waiting on being delivered). Where do you reckon the best position is for me to attach them?
thanks

Onto onto one of the retrofit coil pipes, as close to the cylinder as possible.

Sorry Ivan- don't quite understand. I have two sensors to fit- S3 is store sensor at top and S2 is store sensor below. Does S3 go on the coil as you suggest and then S2 below the entry point for my boiler coil. Want to get this right!

Normally the solar coil is at the bottom of the cylinder - so you have the solar reference sensor at the bottom. S3 serves a few purposes firstly to tell you how hot the water is (the lower sensor will read cold as soon as you use some water and cold enters the bottom of the cylinder to replace what has been used), and also for a few of the more advanced settings (overheating etc).

With your system, you will be heating from the top, so the solar reference has to go at the top. S3 will be of limited use, but you can fit this to the top also, if you wish.
