Hi chaps,

PV system made the old meter run backwards.

The shiny new Landis and Gyr meter is alternating the display of the units with the word rEd.

Anyone know what this means?

Ta.

Reverse Energy Detected , -means you're back feeding -because of pv.
Used to warn  meter readers that your connecting your meter wrongly and possibly defrauding the electricity board!
Don't worry it happens to all.

How long did they take to replace the meter? And did you tell them about it? I've done a few which run the meter backwards and notified the DNO but nothing happened yet....

I had a system installed start of December. By sheer fluke we had the import meter read in person within the next week, and as a result the meter got changed 3 days later. I gather this is not usual.

I rang Good Energy when I noticed it running backwards. About 2nd or third of January.

It was changed on the 9th.

I installed just before Christmas and was praying for some good weather but it rained for 3 weeks! The new meter was fitted right after New Year so I had one chance for about 30 minutes to see the meter going backwards. It took two blokes two hours to fit!! (Ireland). Fortunately they did not mention the missing fuse seal so I will not go to prison for moving my own CU.
Now I am being charged a new low user standing charge tariff (extra €10 per 2 months)  if I do not use average 2kWh per day over a billing period. WHAT!!! So I get to pay for the pleasure of generating renewable power (we only get paid for export units!!). The country has really gone to the dogs.

I've never heard of anyone getting a hard time for not having a fuse seal. Does it ever happen? (I moved my CU once unofficially too and no-one seemed to mind).

We had our incoming feed replaced along with the main fuse last February. The installers didn't put a seal on either the meter or the main fuse. They said that someone would be along later to fit a seal, but it hasn't happened yet! Been read several times since and no comments made.
