The December RPI has been announced as 4.8%.

This should see FITs increasing to 45.4p and the export rate to either 3.2 or 3.3p depending on how they do the rounding.

Does this mean that everyone will need to submit a meter reading on the 31st March?

My next reading is due on the 22nd March, so how will they calaculate how much to pay at the old rate and the new rate?

Valid question for those of us who havent even submitted any readings yet, nor heard from their FIT supplier that their contract has been accepted.....

Last year I submitted a reading on the 31st March just to ensure there was no ambiguity.  onpatrol

npower ask for readings at 15 March, June etc.  Last year I gave the 31 March reading with the June one.  I think they actually used a pro-rata reading but as the difference was only 5p or so, it was no big deal.

I can confirm that E.On used my 31st March reading (submitted by email along with my requested 4th May reading) to work out what they owed me for the period 4th Feb to 4th May 2011

Last year I was instructed by Scottish Power to give them a March 31st reading. I asked them if they also wanted the April 10th reading which would be normal. At first they said "yes" and then rang back and said "no, carry on like this - the next one on 31st (sic) June and so on" However, I've noted that when I send a reading they acknowledge with a note that I will be paid within 28 days provided that it is more than 80 days from the last one. This rather suggests that I could send readings at random times.
