Regulations do need to be  revised.  Something  like one kilometer from any house on the flat and  500 metres if  100 metres above the house perhaps?   The latter  situation would be more common in Ireland,  most are on top of hills.

Wow, if that clip is a fair representation showing  propeties suffering shadows flashing across the house, it would seem a bit extreme. Certainly I would be happy to see one or several in the medium distance from here, but to be in the shadow would drive me nuts.

There are youtube videos of some horrendous shadow flicker in the US.

The US is worse as it is sunnier and the turbines in the video I saw were REALLY close to houses.

In the UK if the shadow flicker exceeds 30 mins per day or 30 hours per year, controls are placed on the turbines to mitigate against this.

Shadow flicker only occurs 130 degrees of North of the turbines and only for approximately 10 rotor diameters.

It does appear that they have some different planning rules in the US (surprise) on the location of turbines - it appears some of these are very close (did I hear 1050 ft - 300m) away......

I love it when they play the sound clip over several views - one clearly from a couple of KM away - suggesting to the viewer that "this is sound connected to this video image" - which it blatently isn't. If it was the BBC they would be getting hauled over the coals for being misleading.

It seems to have made an impact first time round.

I will scour the internet later on for a copy. I certainly won't be funding this!

Apparently they are legally allowed to be miseading. Freedom of speech and all that. There was a recent court case where Fox New's right to lie was upheld. Astonishing  Roll Eyes
