Author Topic: Solar hot water in motor homes / caravans  (Read 770 times)

Has anybody fitted solar hot water into a motor home, caravan or boat. I am trying to work out how to do it to provide hot water for washing, dishes etc.

Been to one on a mobile home - but that had a copper cylinder.

Saw one that had a large flat black container on the roof, he said he filled it when he got on site and usually had hot water within a few hours..

Yes, some people used to do that when we went diving with smaller individual black plastic bags they'd put on the boathouse correction: wheelhouse roof and then use to warm up and wash off the salt water after the dive.
 
By our pool we have a shower that we feed with cold water only, but we split the flow and pass half through a 200m coil of 15mm black plastic tube on the sunny terrace above where we can't see it. The water gets too hot to use without mixing in the afternoon if it hasn't been used earlier.
