Hi Dave,
It's probably of no interest to you but I have a 24v 50a chloride motive power CMP2100 battery charger. It's a multi-stage charger and has a digital programming display. They were mostly used for forklift batteries but it is programable for various battery types so they got used in a number of applications.
It's heavy and in London but I don;t want much for it.
Nick

Nick,
I'm starting on an upgrade to my off grid system and will be on the look out for a suitable 24v charger. If you're willing would you let me have details of your charger and how much etc. Which part of lLondon are you. Were in Wales so a quick trip up M4 is easy. Pm me if interested

Dave, I would steer well clear of Xantrex, certainly the SW series anyway, I've an SW4548e it's only seven years old and whilst it's performed faultlessly they stopped supporting it some years ago and now class it as 'obsolete' They removed an excellent forum off the internet supporting their products when Schnieder took them over and trying to get information out of them is like trying to get blood out of a stone Cheers, Paul

oh thats a shame, the trace sw3024 was the rolls royce of off grid at one time. I would prefer an outback vfx3024 as I already have one of these. I am trying to duplicate the system I have in wales, for my plot in portugal, then one day they can be united and combined.

Aye Dave, the SW series were simply the 'dogs danglies' at one time but I've no time for a company that stops making a great product then announces it obsolete within eighteen months and stops supplying parts and backup Good luck, Paul

I needs some new boards for it and was able to order them from Schnieder directly. Fair enough you have to fit them yourself but the parts are still available.

I too have a Trace SW3024e and its a brilliant piece of kit, though have to agree that support and info from Xantrex has fallen of lately. However the permutations for programming the unit to suit on and off grid are formidable. The manual makes a good bedtime read.

Its because they have been bought over they used to be Trace => Xantrex => Schneider Electric ( http://www.schneider-electric.com ). I agree during the change over support etc was slow but they are very fast and efficient now.

That's good to know CJ for I do love my Trace, but I read an awful lot of comments on here http://www.wind-sun.com/ForumVB/forum.php that seemed to contradict your experience. Like you say it may be the 'transition period' caused a few hiccups, but why did they pull the plug on they're excellent forum I have to agree with you on the manual Andy, it's the most comprehensive and well written manual that I've ever received with any product in 55 years As for the menu and programming, again brilliant but if you can't get parts or support what's the use. They don't even appear to be imported into the UK anymore which is another reason I'd not purchase one Mine's never missed a beat in seven years, supplied some 3.5Kwh per day to my house, 2Kwh per day to my neighbours and dumped some 2500 Kwh via the AC heaters in ten months (only started monitoring the dump loads in March last year) so they can't be bad Good luck, Paul

I think in the US/Canada its a different story, they expect you to use their Authorized Service Center's (ASC). With all the changes people didn't know where they stood. Here in UK and Ireland a company called Wind and Sun used to be the ASC (not sure if they still are, no mention on their website). When I told them I was in Ireland and there was no ASC in my area, they couldnt have been more helpful. The replacement parts are a bit pricey, but compared to packing it all up and shipping it off to Europe, its a bargain !!

Aye CJ, I got mine from Wind & Sun but like you say they no longer supply them In all fairness I've never spoken to them regarding repairs as I've never needed any but I'm going to leave my Trace here when we sell the house and buy an SMA
