Hi all, don't have much money but I'm looking for a reasonable lister cs 6/1 doesn't need to have a genny with it or fuel and water tanks but I do want one that runs and doesn't have any water jacket issues.

If anybody knows for anything please let me know, I'm in south wales but don't mind a long drive depending on the price...

Thanks all

North-West Ireland.  Not sure price wise, haven't had a good look at her, she has been buried under stuff for a few years Tongue  Its the Lister that used to drive the generating set and is currently head and jacketless!

No biff, just really fed up paying mega diesel prices every month.....  I run a lister ts2 and a petter ava1 but with both being air cooled I'm losing all the heat or at least a big chunk of it... Fancy a 6/1 on kerosene into a 400l tank...

Thanks Clive, I can manage a drive but that's one hell of a swim around from here.....

Cheers both

didn't want to post earlier and step on any toes....

but I'm on the look out for one too, but the bigger ones, 4 cylinders and water cooled

(I wasn't going to post at all, but as we're looking for different engines I didn't think you'd mind)

I've been looking for a long time... and am in no real hurry to get one either :-)

That's a very strange water jacket, is it definitely Lister?

Thanks guys, I looked at this one earlier in the week and contacted the guy for some more info and this is what he sent;

Dear marc.jonah,

Hi

HS 5BHP 600RPM
Petter M Type No.73763
Lister no.58927 Spec 76L

Regards

Martin

I'm not into copying what people do, but, a lot of people have good results with the cs when doing what I want to do, when I have something up and running I'll be willing to have a play, but I've had a dc motor of ken b and he says I need a 6-8 hp engine to power it so thought this may be a bit small.  What you think guys?

you'll only need 6 to 8hp to run the motor at full load

if you don't run it at full load, or gear it (larger pulley on the motor) so it's running a bit slower then it won't be a problem :-)

That one is just down the road from me, and i saw it in the warehouse when i was last there poking about.

Im pretty sure its a lister A, isnt it?  Ie petrol, and no good for what most people get up to with the CS.

5/1 and 6/1 lister cs units come up on ebay quite often, but they vary in price quite a bit.  On a good day you should be able to get a runner for about £300, but often they go for double that (and ive seen tripple also!)
