Clever use of concrete, saves waiting for a volcano to erupt.     I hope they keep  it open when they finish.    Must have been a bit stuffy  at the bottom  but they may be able to live on air  trapped in the soil for a while.

the interesting bit is....

they filled it with 10 tons of concrete...

but the ants dug out 40 tons of soil to make it


some kind of magic going on there if you ask me.... soil 4 times heavier than concrete ?
