In the next few years, smart meters are going to be installed in most homes.
Are the proposed meters able to technically do net metering, or measuring generated electricity separately from consumed, to eliminate the cost of separate meters, and allow net metering if the government chooses to go this way instead of FIT.

A large number of SmartMeters that have been recently installed can't cope with export. They will need to be replaced if the homeowner ever installs microgeneration. A pretty ridiculous and entirely preventable situation.
