Hi

I know this is one of those products surrounded by Pyramid selling and there seems to be a lot of diiferent opinions on the Internet as to there benefit or lack of!  My question is, has anyone actuall used them and found that they do give the claimed fuel reductions?  Which are 7% - 14% in terms of mpg and I believe they are also marketed as saving on carbon emissions.

I've just been offered some so, I'm considering getting sucked in ...

Thanks

Ian

I doubt they work. Here's a quote I found about them...

ABC television got interested in this product and apparently tried to find out more. AAA, the automotive association actually put the product to test and found that when following the manufacturers instructions, there was no measurable increase in gasoline mileage in their test vehicle.

and another quote from the same page:

Fuel Freedom International under investigation by the Attorney General of Florida:

Subject of investigation: Fuel Freedom International, LLC and David Matichak, Resident Agent
Subject's address: 650 Douglas Avenue, Suite 1040 Altamonte Springs, FL 32714
    Subject's business: Multilevel marketing
    Allegation or issue being investigated:
Unfair/deceptive business practices in the sale of product that purports to make gasoline burn with greater efficiency without independent scientific testing to substantiate claim. Further, product is sold/distributed by means of multi-level marketing whereby the compensation is not based primarily on volume of bona fide sales. Possible violations of Florida Unfair or Deceptive Trade Practices Act, F.S. 501.201. et. seq., production and/or soliciting on behalf of a chain letter or pyramid club (F.S. 849.091).

Hi Ivan,

Yes I'd found that link as well but the chap that has given me some swears by them and he's not the type just to be in it for the money!  Also he showed me his last two MOT emissions checks and the one after using the tablets for a year is significantly lower. Just wondered if anyone had given them a try.  Our car is new to us, so any potential cost saving won't be that apparrent.

Thanks

It's quite easy to improve emissions/pollution with older engines simply by cleaning - products such as redox petrol and diesel treatments have been doing this for years. I have seen a lot of products that have shown substantial improvements on old, knackered engines, marginal differences on younger engines, and no effect on engines under a few years old. It's easy to run a few tests on a product that demonstrates a one-off improvement by selecting your test vehicle, but then it fails to be repeatable in independent tests. Some products will show a one-off improvement the first time you use them (maybe the only time you actually check their effectiveness), and there is a tendancy to drive more economically whilst testing, which can easily result in measurable improvement.

One taxi franchise in Cardiff sold their drivers a fuel-saving device - a wooden block which fitted under the pedal. On the whole, it did show significant improvements in their fuel consumption!! Some of the drivers were actually very impressed with it!

Sunlover - is yours a brand new car, or just new to you? If brand new, be wary of any warranty issues if you use this product in your car.
