Steve, Martin, List,

Here are some of the ones I use occasionally - fill in the blanks appropriately Grin

JHFCMF - this is reserved for the most dire situations - its a bit like SNAFU, or FUBAR but guaranteed to be quite a lot more offensive to most people - much worse than calling your Teddy Bear Jehovah

NFG  - like my poor toasted permanent magnet generator Sad

WTF   - hey guy's what's occurring here?

WOFT  - when a project or task is just not worth starting, or once started, not worth finishing

A then there is the reverse acronym "See you next Tuesday"

Eagle eyed readers might notice that there is a recurring F theme in these first few acronyms - If in doubt - ask Gordon Ramsay

Finally,

WAF   - Wife Acceptance Factor -  varies between 0 and 1.  An object with a WAF of zero remains hidden in the shed, a WAF of 1 can be brought into the living room.

Bikers who bring motorcycle engines into the living room to work on them normally don't have wives, so the WAF doesn't really apply.

 OK Martin... as everybody else seems to have taken one step backwards, I'll do it... laugh

 If any other list member would like to help, please add them to the end of this thread & I'll edit them into my first message in alphabetical order.... Wink

Great idea, Steve - I've added a few directly to your initial post. Feel free to edit/change/delete if you prefer.

By the way (BTW!), the WAF is generally easy to calculate:

Clean=1,
Expensive and Shiny=1,

Dirty(in various senses)=0,
Noisy=0,
Smelly=0
Engine=0,
Dangerous=0,
perceived to be dangerous=0,
Other women=0

I'll leave you guys to fill in the rest of the list

Not an acronym but related to RTFM, a wise man once said:-

'Try reading the instructions, if that does not work try following them!'
