Here's a bit of cheer for an otherwise depressing January, Please submit pictures of your stoves and fires - either lit or extinguished, fully installed, or "work in progress", for not so lucky readers to mull over. I'll start, - obviously there are still a few small jobs to do yet Ken

You've been busy over Christmas Ken! Nice job. Make sure you post a 'finished' picture next week By the way - that's an impressive collection of those new-fangled 12" double-layer long-play DVDs you have to the left of the TV Antman

Here's mine. It's a Hunter Herald 8kW with 11000BTU back boiler. It provides around 80% of the domestic heating in the house, and the stove and solar panels produce over 99% of the hot water My cat, Bucky, is modelling for you.
BTW, I have a short movie clip of the stove, which I can use as a PC screensaver in the summer when I get that craving for flames, but it's already too hot!

Cold here tonight too, Aarrow Stratford Tf 50b 2.5 Kw to room, up to 13Kw to water. Burns mainly wood - anything from pallets to logs with a little coal to help keep it in in the winter. Runs all underfloor heating in 4 bed cottage. Biggest problem is getting enough wood and beating the dogs to the best seat! rgds George. before i post my stove... ecogeorge ....long live bill gates we all admire him .... god bless him and the open fire he has got... reduce size of images should be back to you ,,so there are much better programs in your league available to do image changes like adobe if you have a digital camera with f(not allowed to use that word here anymore) ing megapixels it displays normaly on your screen with 72 dpi (dots per (excuse my language) f 8)ing inch) so if you have a shot witha 6 megapixel camera and you load it to your computer it is still way too big ,, because of the megapixxels , f 8)ing right...., normaly we cannot get it onto our screen wether its a bloody apple screen ot a fu...turistic gates screen because we all see only 72 dpi (dots per inch) ( as being a german i donot complain about inches foot yard ......) so the trick is to get good quality pictures to 72 dpi at the right size for us to see like 25 cm or 10 inch wide and save them as jpg files (exampe my camera pictures are all about 75 cm or 30 inch wide much too much information there so we have to reduce to screen size) ) ecogeorge i didnot want to stigmatise ..... perhaps this forum should use all our power as well here is my low budget stove 150 euros new ,in a builderssupply, and still happy, now allways burning like the straight rules of yours Talisker (well done) sorry i had too much ot this irish poteen ....too much for us germans

Here is a photo of our 2 fires. The big one is a Clearview 650 with a small back boiler that gets the water tank boiling in a matter of hours. We have had it for 18 years and used it pretty much every cold day since. Burns 95% wood occasionally coal if we have to go out to leave it for more than a few hours. It gobbles huge amounts of wood and gives off around 12kw. Still seems in perfect condition, has had a new baffle plate, 2 sets of firebricks and inner glass because it finally got too scratched from years of cleaning and a few quick resprays on visible areas. Overall a it has been a great fire and heats 2 big rooms (1 with a very high ceiling) with ease, sometimes we resort to opening the velux window to cool the room down when things get serious! For years we have been planning to put a ducting system to heat other parts of the room when the temperature in the room gets above a set temperature but we have not done it as yet... The small one is an Arrow fire which is also dual fuel, it is hardly used as it is in a living room that is rarely used and seems cumbersome and flimsy to use but is cleaner burning than the Clearview stove because it has no back boiler. We did try burning coal in it one time as it is a dual fuel stove, although when the stove temperature gets up you can no longer close the door as the fire bends with the heat!
