Dan,
Personally if I was in your shoes and the option was available I would purchase a site with an established woodland or potential for one. Not only would you have your own fuel supply but maybe a potential income from selling wood or making and selling charcoal. With the whole peak oil thing etc. in the background you really don’t want to be dependant on the grid but potentially generate enough power for pumps etc.

donot get me wrong

i like heatpumps but  somehow they are advertized as wondermachines

and perhaps they are  it took me and my brain a while to understand them

powering them with home or green electicity then its sound i say, but like mentioned  what are the well known windturbines cost or pv ....

we (grannies)got quotes for a  windheating turbine  2,5 kw  for about 20000 euros    without the heatstorage  ( of course best turbine in europe..... but)

i wounder how much solarpannels and heatstorage one could fit for that money

or get a  chp system with woodpellets and a sterling engine and drive a heatpump  to achieve a 130 % efficient setup ?

in the end we all look for a cheap way..... which is wrong.....

what is needed is to achieve the positive thoughts not what is costing more then the other and then i keep my dirty oilburner   , we need to get happy installing other ideas , and that is only possible if goverment feeds ideas to allow people to invest in new ideas

money should be pumped into ideas to let people grow and accept ideas  and not just feeded by oil and then complain about the price.....

i have big respect for people investing in a 20000 euro windturbine .  and it would be nicer if you get a 10000 euro funding  ( like you get funding for a heatpump here)

its some sort of a luxury  not driving a big lexus (or a merc)  but what is needed to make these things or ideas available for all.....  is a bit of a support

there are good  ideas for funding farming  in europe (quite good)  so more funding for green enegy is needed ...

i will take more english lessons when i ever go back to school   Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue
