Well done danjack, for fettling the wiki up. It has been sadly neglected.

If we are considering a software change I like moinmoin because the backend is still just text files, not a database, so if spammers make a mess you can just delete all the cr*p and duff accounts on the server end easily, and it's impossible to get the database in a terrible mess (as as happened to me before with other wikis). It also (like mediawiki) has extensive skinning, captcha and add-on options. Both of them are good choices. In may case it would be admin-familiarity that made me pick moinmoin. I'm happy to be signed up as an admin, although if that does not take the form of ssh access to the box it's running on then I may not be much use - I can't abide the 'dashboard' things that so many ISPs/virtual server providers give you.

Yes OK, Martin, point taken, please send me the password again. The problem is that I get a wiki-fettling enthusiasm at 2am typically, after Martin has sensibly gone to bed, and know that the day after I'll be doing something else, so the opportunity has passed, probably for several months. Any password that is facility-supplied rather than generated-by-me requires management as I can't just remember it. I can tell the browser but that only works until I change machine or browser, which is quite often. I realise these are only small things, but they are enough to mean I just do something else without those little extra barriers to action. I suspect I'm not the only one.

OK... would it be possible to perhaps add a link to the wiki pages from the FAQ posts?  Otherwise the wiki posts are unlikely to be read & improved, right?

Thanks Jack. I have added Wiki links to the FAQ posts for the time being.
