Anyone any ideas if it can be used in the UK?

Seems for small genertors who just want to use RE without selling any surplas back could just use one of these?

Can it be used with a small windgenerator?

Yes, it is legal to use it - you can confirm this with Ofgen if you want further confirmation 'from the horse's mouth' - however you will not get an electricity company to buy-back the surplus as it is not G83 certified.

It is ideal for small scale systems (as you probably won't have any surplus to sell back) and is very frequently used for this. I have a system connected to two Navitron 60W panels, and currently, it is sending 0.5 - 0.6kWh per day into our mains (you can use our powermeters to register the amount fed into the mains).

You cannot use these with small wind turbines. I have tried various tricks to achieve this, and although I can grid-feed, the unit gets confused and produces sporadic results.  Definitely not recommended for wind power - but it works extremely well for solar PV

no idea where to get it.

I've had some email exchanges with a director of mastervolt uk.  Basically according to him;

a) not legal
b) will not work with Wind
c) Soladin 600 is hopefully going to be avalible in the UK with G83 cert for under £400 at the end of the year - Ivan they do a decent trade discount :-)
d) They are looking at getting the 600 to work with wind

Ivan,

Have you asked Ofgem?  If can you give a clue who you spoke to?  I'd like to follow that up and then tell Mastervolt uk.

Hi, alshapton,
nothing to tell at the moment. I've been interested in Solar power for about 25 years, when I built my first panel out of a pressed steel central heating radiator & enclosed it in a double glazed plastic box.  The heat generated in this contraption was totally beyond my expectations.
I put this 'experiment' on the garage wall with a 'insulated' tank inside - almost everyone who came to my home 'had to see this'.  It did get a lot of people interested in solar power!
Since then I've done nothing about it.
Most of my recent knowledge comes from these pages.
I'm now in a rented bungalow so don't want to go to the expense of 'plumbing' stuff in.
The PV items seem better for my use - as if I have to move - it's easier to move with me.
Cost is also an issue, as I am now disabled & on limited income.
The cost of storage/batteries seemed a bit expensive - so I was looking at the cheapest way to grid-tie a couple of panels.

To me, it looks like my own cheapest option (to begin with ?!?!) would seem to be 2 x 60w panels, linked directly to a Soladin 120w and straight into the mains.

I've managed to obtain the inverter so am now looking for the panels.

It does seem overly simple to me,,,,, so I must have something amiss Huh??
(I invite comments/advice from anyone)

I'll update my situation on these pages if the admin don't mind.

cheers all
