A chap on ebay is selling off these whole house ventilation units
Says on them:
HR250 GREENWOOD AIRVAC

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180232953245

But he has no instructions and knows nothing about them.

Been through all the normal channels of talking to the manufacturers but they all say ‘too old’

So has anyone seen one before?

There are 4 in / outs at the top and the diagram is my guess on how they work

Anyone know what the inlet at the bottom is for?

Thanks

MN

Same box as above wiring box

I figured the first three  Grin and it works on slow fan

Anyone any ideas what 87  / 54 / 21 might do?

Thanks

Each of the terminals will be a different voltage output from a multitapped transformer.

Basically it allows you to set different fan speeds for the two settings (ie background continous trickle and intermittant boost setting).
You should be able to workout speed settings by working out which wire is the high speed and which is the low.  Your boost selector switch will be a changeover switch between the two.

Have a look on Vent-axias website for similar arrangements,or contact Greenwood for a wiring diagram.

Cheers

I’d not seen the archive before – interesting.
The trouble with the unit it is from 1990 and a tad too old for an internet PDF manual   Grin

I have it wired up as is (with out any switching) and a meter shows it drawing 70Watts – which I think will be the slow setting.  I have it on a timer to run for a few hours every night on economy 7.

My main reason was to please the building inspector (Part F?) as I forgot to specify trickle vents on the windows!

Would a multimeter put on each terminal in turn work? see what voltages are on each terminal?

The bottom inlet could be for a heating element.

First post!
I have a similar system, but not ventaxia, self-installed, and getting the three speed switch wired up was tricky to say the least - you need a manual or a tech guy on the phone to tell you what combination of which wires does what! Mines a DC motor, infinitely variable speed, but with three settings, so you can have quiet nightime tickover, more powerful daytime operation, and flat out 100% extraction operated by bathroom pullswitches. Had it in maybe 18 months so far - very impressed - no open windows, no drafts, no condensation.
From memory (I've seen your unit at a show I think) that bottom vent is an extra high flow extraction, don't quote me on that tho'!

Thank you for sharing with us the parts of ventilation. It can help us to make our body relax. Especially on summer day.

I'm getting a suspicion of spamming here - consider this your first (and last) warning on the subject police

"This is a friendly warning to anyone tempted to spam these forums - the moderating team spends a great deal of time making sure the forum runs smoothly, and during recent weeks we have been suffering a great influx of spammers of various types. When we discover what may be spam, it can sometimes take some hours to decide whether it IS actually intentional spam, ignorance of the rules, or bad judgement - I'm no longer prepared to waste that much time - it is summer, between rain showers I've got a lot I want to do, so I'm making it plain, from now on, if it looks even vaguely like spam it'll be immediately deleted - if it is repeated, it will be followed by a lifetime ban of the poster!
Last but not least, should a moderator act on such a case ,"the umpire's decision is final", we are not prepared to enter into lengthy discussions about it........
