So when I have main-pressure hot water, shortly [i.e. hot water will be potable, whereas at the moment there could be dead animals floating in the header tank FATIK] should I fill the kettle from the hot water tap - to take advantage of the heat in my Thermal Store before boiling with the kettle? (No mains gas here ...]

I've been wondering whether it makes sense to go even further. If the thermal store is run hot, there'll probably be a TMV between the thermal store and the hot tap, so maybe it would pay to have a separate Very Hot Water tap for filling the kettle, like those very expensive 'butler taps' some makers offer. I guess the question would be how much water cools in the pipe between uses.

I quite fancy having a butler ... Wink

No more than the DHW circuit I assume ... so perhaps no worse off there (up to the DHW temperature at least ...).  I'll ponder the length of my DHW run from Thermal Store to Kitchen

This time of year I use a flat bottomed Stainless steel kettle on top of the clearview wood burner, obviously it depends on how hard I am running the burner, sometimes only takes 5 mins other times takes 20. we also use the stove for cooking soup, stew, casseroles, etc we are really pleased with this set up Grin

That's not a bad idea, and reminded me that I need to do this too.
