Having laid the penstock for my budget ( so far not spent a penny ) high head low flow mini hydro scheme I started laying the 320m of armoured cable yesterday and whilst this has again cost me nowt it is in 6 different lengths. Now when a renewable project is this cheap I'm not averse to buying the required resin filled joints. I had one already so used that but as we're a bit remote and it was a Sunday I had a go at making my own joints from 25mm alkythene, 6mm copper pipe, 8mm plastic tube and self amalgamating tape.

first I cut the copper pipe into 3 25mm lengths with a pipe cutter, then the plastic pipe into slightly longer lengths.

Then pushed the plastic over the copper in a vice and hey presto a perfect tube crimp for 10mm sq

25mm water pipe is a lovely snug fit over 10mm sq 3 core SWA so I just slid that over (before making the crimp Roll Eyes) and finished it all off with insulating tape then self amalgamating stuff. Though in my excitement I forgot to take pics Roll Eyes
Ok I know its not kosher and probably contravenes all the regs but it got me out of a hole and made my day Grin
