A good month (supposedly the best of the year according to the tube output tables). Geraint has got the software measuring the temp at each end of the panels and doing the sums before totaling them on an hourly and daily basis, so the power output is now about as accurate as we can get it. Total power for the month was 457 kWh which at 10p / kWh would have saved us £45.70 if we had needed and used all that heat. As it was, when the pool hit 40 degrees it became unswimmable in and we had to resort to leaving doors open to warm the universe instead. The average output per day was 15.23 kWh which doesn't compare that well with the 40.5 kWh the table suggests for 60 tubes. That equates to it being  38% of an average June and, whilst it wasn't actually 'blazing', I don't think it was that bad as average Junes go?

Lets try and upload some more links, including my first table - here's hoping:

Hmm, not quite as neat as it was in Excel, never mind, let's try a link to a big graph for June showing pool temp, in and out of panels, hours of heater and pump running and power saved:

http://www.mikes-pool.co.uk/external/Pool_panels_and_power_June_08.jpg

Surface area of pool is 11.15 sq m, location is Essex, Lat 51.65, tubes are 60 x 58mm, Ratio of active tube area to pool area is 56%, Ratio of panel area to pool area is 91%

Mike

and finally, when you haven't seen an icon in years, two come along at once:
