30 x 70mm tubes, long piperuns - 2x16m of 15mm pipe, 260litre cylinder.


We haven't used the boiler at all, recently.

Nice, sunny day all day. Tank temperature in evening 68C from top to bottom.

Total flow and return pipe work of approximately 54 metres in 10mm copper tube. 20 vacuum tubes and some old flat plate panels. 1200 x 450mm non solar dedicated twin coil cylinder (slightly more capacity and slightly less efficient heat exchange). Panels facing due south situated on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire

1st July - got home base of the tank 55 degrees - top - red hot with circulating water at 99 degrees (unpressurised system)

heat dumps haven't been over-exerted this summer!

My tank reached 49C this evening, but cloudy and/or heavy rain until mid afternoon, here

I've been meaning to ask for a while - what pump are you using - is it a standard circulator, and is it set on postion 1, 2 or 3?

Have you tried setting Speed 2 to see if you get any improvement in yield? I'd be interested to know if speed 1 is sufficient for this length of 10mm.

This may be my last temperature posting as we are moving on 22nd July  : so very fitting that today is a good sunny day and I can report a good temperature reading.

A sad day indeed. I do hope you decide to fit solar to your new property.

My own system has been hovering around 47C- 54C for the last week or so due to almost non-existant sun, but fortunately, no need to get boiler involved. Yesterday, we had sunny weather (but too cold for t-shirt), tank finished up at 65C from top to bottom.

Highest temperature this year 77c top, 65c at bottom in 210 litre cylinder at 19.00 p.m.

E/W collectors

15 tubes 58mm on east roof

30 tubes 58mm on west roof
