If the banks don't start lending to businesses again pretty soon, perhaps the government should take a leaf out of the American plan and start making commercial loans directly. Cut out the middle-man!

That would provide an opportunity to make loans on favourable terms for building wind farms, extending the national grid, etc

Thats what I will be doing next week but I am not very optimistic. Anything is better than seeing your business go under just because the banks are refusing to lend.
