Having recently spent the weekend at a festival in my 30 year old caravan I now realize that I can't live without my laptop ( how sad is that ) I did get this piece of plop http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330257862426&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=014 but it simply wasn't up to the job. It would not run my wee IBM because the plug was 5hips and wouldnae run my Fujitsu cos I'm guessing I need about 120w as the current mains brick that runs it says 20v 6amp. Does anyone know of a quality 12v power supply that's efficient and wont fry my computer Cheers, Paul

Cheers, guys for all the input, sadly I missed that particular episode of Father Ted NI and being broadbandless there's no point even going to Kens link The Maplins link is the same piece of Chinese plop I've already got but twice the output and 6 times the price but thanks for taking the time to look I. The laptops link says to use a 150w inverter and the mains brick for laptops of 120w which is what I do anyway S but it's just extra plop to lug around and strikes me as being very inefficient but again thanks for taking the trouble to look S. Out here in the sticks with only 31.2kbps looking at anything is a pain never mind wading through all the poops on google. Cheers, Paul

You don't get something for nothing i'm afraid. I've got a targus PSU through work but probably cost 3 times the Maplin unit. Great quality though. You can use it on planes too.

Don't mind paying if it's well made and does the job without cooking my battery or frying my laptop. If I can't find anything else I'll try the link you sent Wookey but I know from experience that the plugs are dodgy but if the unit itself is OK I suppose you can't complain for £20. Thanks again guys, Paul

really crappy ones that are either so tight that you feel like your going to damage the board putting them in or so loose that if you fart they fall out. They come on a rubber strip and at first glance look Ok you just find the right one pull it off the strip and plug it onto the output lead, the connections being different diameters so you don't reverse polarity. Like I say I don't mind paying for something decent but quite often with these things the only difference is the packaging and mark up. I've seen my £4.99 piece of poopers for £19.99 on other sites Cheers, Paul
